I just reread (let’s be honest, read) the Great Gatsby, and the last page is really something:
While departing West Egg, Nick Carraway laments how Gatsby tried so hard to recreate a past life that was firmly out of reach.
Doors are always closing.
Sometimes, that’s easy to accept … and other times, it’s not.
I bet Jimmy Carter worked at accepting the past so he could be present.
